Course outline

We are a local filmmaking studio based in St Albans, regularly used by brands such as FIFA, Sky Sports and Glamour Magazine. As filmmakers, we’re passionate about storytelling and this summer, we’re inviting young people to join us for an exciting 4-day Summer Masterclass.

If you're aged 14–17, we’d love to hear from you. We will teach you the essential skills behind powerful content creation, whether that’s film, documentary, or music video. We’ll teach you how to create industry-standard work using just a mobile device.

This hands-on course is designed to unlock creativity through practical filmmaking. Using mobile tools as an entry point, students will explore core storytelling, shooting, and editing techniques. By the end of the week, you will gain confidence, new friends and industry experience.

Schedule

Day 1

The Story Starts Here
You’ll meet your team, learn how the course will run and dive into creative brainstorming. Through fun games and group exercises, we’ll explore how stories are built - from plot and character to mood and genre. By the end of the day, each group will have a film idea, a rough script, a plan for filming, and may begin shooting.

Day 2

Shoot Like a Pro
We’ll show you how to use smartphones and cameras to film like a professional. You’ll learn how to set up shots, use lighting and sound equipment, and practice basic camera moves. Then, you’ll spend the day filming your scenes - indoors at the studio and possibly outside on location.

Day 3

Lights, Camera, Action!
You’ll complete your filming, capturing any final scenes along with extra footage like interviews, voiceovers, or B-roll. Then we’ll introduce editing software like Premiere Pro, showing you how to arrange clips, add music and shape your story. By the end of the day, you’ll have a first cut of your film.

Day 4

Premiere Day
On the final day, you’ll polish your edit, add titles and effects, and make your project ready to share. We’ll help with final tweaks, colour grading, and exporting your film. The course finishes with a group screening - friends and family are invited to celebrate what you’ve made.
